Balance Hormones

Hormone testing and therapy restore optimal levels to support mood, metabolism, energy, and sexual health. Plans are individualized for both men and women.

What do hormones do?

Hormones are the body’s chemical messengers. Glands such as the thyroid, the adrenal glands, the ovaries and the testes release them into the blood, and they guide growth, how your body turns food into energy, sexual function, reproduction and mood. Because so much depends on them, a change in one hormone can show up in several places at once.

What are the signs that hormones may be out of balance?

The signs depend on which hormone is involved. Some of the most common are:

  • Weight gain or loss without a clear reason
  • Feeling unusually hot or cold
  • Irregular periods, hot flashes or night sweats
  • A lower sex drive, or erection problems
  • Tiredness, trouble sleeping or changes in mood

Nearly every one of these can have other causes as well, which is why doctors check hormone levels with blood tests and read the results alongside your symptoms.

How do hormones change with age?

For women, the years leading into menopause, called perimenopause, last about four years on average and can last up to ten. Menopause is reached after twelve months in a row without a period; in the United States the average age is 52. The change in hormones can affect sleep, mood, bones, joints, muscles, the bladder and weight, and hot flashes and night sweats last seven to twelve years on average.

For men the change is gradual: testosterone tends to fall by about 1% a year, although not for everyone.

How are hormone levels tested?

Most hormone tests use a blood sample, and for some the timing matters. Testosterone is highest early in the day, so the American Urological Association recommends measuring it in the early morning, on two separate occasions, before low testosterone is diagnosed. It uses a total testosterone level below 300 ng/dL, together with symptoms, as its guide.

Why is the thyroid part of hormone health?

The thyroid sets the pace of your metabolism. An estimated 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease, up to 60 percent of them without knowing it, and women are five to eight times more likely than men to have thyroid problems.

  • An underactive thyroid can bring tiredness, weight gain, trouble tolerating cold, dry skin, thinning hair and low mood.
  • An overactive thyroid can bring weight loss despite a bigger appetite, a fast or irregular heartbeat, nervousness, trouble sleeping and trouble tolerating heat.

Many of these symptoms are shared with other conditions, so a blood test is part of finding the cause.

“Really impressed with the tour and the high-tech approach to non-invasive pain management.”

The treatments are designed for your specific needs and are adjusted as improvements are made. When I started my sessions I could barely tolerate side to side motion or strength training of any kind. Now that the sessions have unlocked the fascia in multiple areas I’m regaining range of motion, lessening the nerve pain, and able to challenge myself to strength training with the Vasper and Oxygen Therapy. I came to HumanBlu upon the referrals of several trusted friends after going through surgery to alleviate pain I was experiencing daily. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was really impressed with the tour and the high-tech approach to pain management in a non-invasive way. Within two weeks of sessions, I saw and felt improvements in energy levels, range of motion, balance issues, cognitive issues, and a reduction in pain. I have used the Pulse PEMF, Vasper, Oxygen Therapy, Infrared Sauna, and total Gut Restoration pre/pro biotic regime. My goal is to “energize to exercise” and get back to a healthy and active lifestyle which includes swimming, yoga, and strength training. The team at HumanBlu are assisting me in achieving those goals and I’m so thankful for their encouragement and support.

“PEMF has absolutely helped with my anxiety/depression. I have done PEMF specifically on my head only once, but on the rest of my body an average of three times a week and that is benefiting me mentally! I am finding myself feeling much more energetic and not falling asleep mid day anymore. I have gotten off of medications and have just been doing PEMF because I have seen a tremendous, positive change in my mental health!”

“After using PEMF on my back for an average of 3 days a week for 3 weeks, I am pain free! My back feels less inflamed, more fluid and moveable. Having had chronic back pain for 15 years, to the point where it was limiting my ability to do day to day things and sleep, I am overjoyed that I am able to not feel in pain 24/7”

“PEMF has helped my knee pain tremendously. After using PEMF, they feel stronger, and less achey. Especially on cold days, they tend to get stiff, but with PEMF, there has been improvement. I am on my feet all day walking many miles for work, so it has been important for me to find a way to not have knee pain.”
